Nest boxes for Junortoun

The Junortoun Community Action Group is undertaking a multi-year project to provide hundreds of nest boxes for birds and mammals throughout Junortoun.

The Action Group obtained a grant from the City of Greater Bendigo in 2016 to commence this project. Our initial focus will be to provide nest boxes targeted to the brush-tailed phascogale (tuan).

As well as installing nest boxes for phascogales, this year’s project will involve research, design and prototyping, relationship-building and capacity-building. In future years we aim to extend to bird boxes and microbat boxes along the O’Keefe Rail Trail and throughout forests and private land of Junortoun.

Opportunities to get involved include building nest boxes, installing nest boxes, sponsoring a nest box and providing donations to support the project.
